We have the right to separate any dogs we believe we need to separate.

  • A lead that is in good condition – Correction chains are not accepted
  • If your dog arrives without a collar or lead you will need to purchase these before we can admit your dog.
  • Please Clearly label your dogs collar and lead

Why are we strict on collars and leads – All animals must have correct collars and leads so that in the event of an emergency they are available for us to evacuate.

Play Time

Playtime

All dogs are given exercise time every day.  We have 3 very large areas in which they can play and run around.  We also have smaller day yards for them to stretch their legs and go to the toilet.

Supervised Playtime

We love to socialise dogs, we understand that socialising and good exercise can mean that your dog has a much calmer and enjoyable experience when boarding.

So if your dog is a social dog as long as they have never been in any sort of dog fight and you have socialised them they can enrol in our supervised playtimes.

Our staff will assess your dogs temperament and match groups of compatible dogs.  We take them into our large exercise yard and let them play and run for 20 to 30 minutes per day.

Please note supervised playtime is an additional charge of $6 per dog per day.

Individual playtime

If your dog prefers their own company we ensure they get enjoy solo time in our exercise yards every day.

Please note we are unable to board dogs that are aggressive towards people or other dogs. – this can be deleted as I have added details about this later

Food

Dinner Time

We feed the dogs once a day in the afternoon.

If your dog is a under 12 months we will feed it twice a day at no extra cost.

If we deem your dog is underweight we will feed them twice a day for an additional charge of $5 per day.

Dogs are fed Blackhawk Dry food and Prime 100 varieties.

If your dog is on a special diet or has allergies you will need to supply your own food.

Unfortunately, we are unable to cater for specific diets, so we encourage you to supply food if your dog requires specific food or has allergies

Supplying your own food does not change the boarding price.

Vet

We prefer to use your own vet if necessary. If we are unable to get an appointment with your own vet we have agreements with several Bendigo Vets who will see your pet.

Please note you are responsible to pay for all vet costs whilst your animal boards with us including the cost of staff time and transportation.

We will always communicate with you if your animal needs a vet. However ultimately it is our decision whether we believe they need medical assistance.

Older/Anxious Dogs

We are mindful of the impact boarding can gave on those dogs that are a bit more frail and anxious.

We provide office time for any dogs that are older and need some quiet time. Or that are feeling anxious.

We also provide office time for any dog that is boarding for a longer period of time – to make sure they get a chance to relax and wind down away from the other dogs.

This is an additional service we offer at no extra charge.  Please do not request this service.  Staff will assess if this is something your dog may require.

Bath Time

At the Per Retreat we provide all dogs a free bath the day before pick up for any dog that boards for 10 days or more.

So when you pick up your pooch they should be exhausted and will be smelling fresh!!

Aggressive/Reactive Dogs

We have made the tough decision to no longer board dogs that are reactive and that show signs of any aggression towards other dogs or people.

If your dog is reactive and you are aware that they can be aggressive towards people or other animals, please notify us and we will chat to you about whether we believe your animal will be suitable.

If you have not spoken to our team and you present to drop off with your dog showing aggression or reactivity. Including LUNGING and Snarling we will not admit your dog and you will be required to take them home.

If our staff are unable to approach your dog, we will not admit your dog.

It was a tough decision we had to make but it is the only way we can ensure our staff and borders remain safe.

Please speak to us before drop off if you have any concerns about your dog. More often than not once we have chatted to an owner the dog will be allowed to board.

We also have strategies to assist an anxious dog such as trial days, recommending calming products etc.

Please speak to us if you have any concerns about your dog.

Excitable, playful, energetic dogs are certainly welcome in our facility and not included in this policy.
