Boarding Cats - Settling In
Cats are solitary animals and cat react to strange environments through
stress. It is perfectly normal for a cat to take 2 or 3 days to settle
into the cattery. What that means is they may not eat much during
the first few days.
If your cat has started eating within 2 days we administer
some Nutripet. This is a gel that is high in vitamins and can supplement
food. It is also an appetite stimulant. For the majority of cats
this is all they need to start eating. If this does not work we
will keep trying different foods until we find something they will
eat.
If we have to purchase additional food such as roast
chicken, it will be at your expense.
Sometimes cats do not use their bowels when stressed.
If they have not used their bowels within 2 days we administer some
laxative. If that does not work we will seek advice from a vet.
The majority of cats do settle in after a few
days, so do not be too alarmed. The more a cat boards with us the
more comfortable they will become.
